Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71.
On Thursday, July 24, TMZ published an exclusive report, asserting that Hogan passed away during the early morning hours. Per the outlet, medical officials had been dispatched to the 71-year-old’s home in Clearwater, Florida. Furthermore, a “cardiac arrest” had been reported at the location.
Per the outlet, a “slew” of police cars and EMTs were parked outside the wrestling icon’s home. Ultimately, the 71-year-old was reportedly brought into an ambulance on a stretcher.
Social media users immediately reacted to the news of Hulk Hogan’s passing in The Shade Room’s comment section. To note, Hogan’s passing arrives the same week as the passings of Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Ozzy Osbourne.
While Instagram user @roll_moduls added, “My child hood hero🥺 The Greatest Wrestler of all time ! RIP HULK HOGAN !!!”
According to TMZ, Hogan underwent surgery on his neck in May. Furthermore, Page Six adds that the procedure “removes a damaged intervertebral disc from the spine in the neck.” Afterward, speculation arose that Hogan was having difficulty recovering from the procedure. However, per the outlet, his wife, Sky Daily, reportedly took to social media earlier this month to claim he was doing well.
“No, he’s definitely not in a coma!” she posted while replying to a fan at the time. “His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage. None of those rumors are true. He’s been recovering from a major four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusin (ACDF), which is an intense surgery with a long and layered healing process. If you look it up, you’ll see what the last six weeks have involved… not just for his spine, but also for his vocal cords, and the eating/breathing tubes that are clamped over during surgery… He’s healing and we’re taking it one day at a time with love, strength, and patience.”
Then, over the weekend, Hogan’s manager, Jimmy Hart, reportedly came forward to share that the 71-year-old was “not doing well” and couldn’t speak.
“He’s having problems. It does not look good. It does not look good at all,” he reportedly shared at the time.
